Financial Resources —Did you know that there are many financial resources that can help people living with breast cancer? Find out more

IMAGINE THE IMPACT

How does a 5K Race make a huge impact on the global movement to end breast cancer forever?  Through the fundraising efforts of every participant.

You don’t need to be a fundraising expert to be successful at it – you just need the desire to stand up to breast cancer and make a difference.  Thanks to people like you, in 2014 the Komen North Mississippi Affiliate was able to fund $170,000 for education, screening and treatment services in Alcorn, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Clay, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Lowndes, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Oktibbeha, Tishomingo, Tippah and Union counties.  This year we’re aiming even higher!  If every Race participant raised an average of $100 over the registration fee, the Komen North Mississippi Affiliate would raise an additional $400,000.  Together, we can save lives!

Fundraising is easy with online fundraising tools! When you registered for the Race you automatically received your own fundraising website which can be personalized. Start now by logging in, and encouraging everyone you know to visit your site, see what you are doing in the fight against breast cancer and make a donation on your behalf. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays right here in the local community! The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen Grants Program to fund research.

Every dollar makes an impact – thank you for everything you do!

Fundraising Awards:

NEW!!!  Each week leading up to Race Day (first day of contest is August 29), we will recognize the top fundraising individual for that week, and that person will receive a prize!  The weekly winners are determined by funds raised that week, not their cumulative total.  Fundraising weeks begin on Fridays and end on Thursdays with the winner announced on the following Friday.  The fundraising weeks are: Aug. 28-Sept. 3 (winner announced Sept. 4), Sept. 4-10, Sept. 11-17, Sept. 18-24, Sept. 25-Oct. 1, Oct. 2-8, Oct. 9-15, Oct. 16-22.  Winners will be contacted and announced on our social media pages (Facebook and Twitter).  Be sure to like us on Facebook at Komen North Mississippi Race for the Cure, and follow us on Twitter @KomenNorthMS.

What are the team fundraising awards?

Top fundraising teams in the following categories will be recognized on Race Day: Corporate, School, Social/Community Group, Friends & Family, Small Business, and Church (team captains must choose a category when registering their team to be eligible for these awards).  There will also be an award for the top overall fundraising team.  Additionally, there will be an award for the largest team in the categories listed above.  Please note that individual fundraising counts toward the team total, so you may record your personal fundraising on your personal fundraising page, and it will still be contributing to the team total.
